16 October 2008 -- The Initiative of the People of Sudan for Solving the Darfur issue kicked off its first session today at the Friendship Hall in Khartoum.
19 October 2008 -- UNAMID Joint Special Representative (JSR), Rodolphe Adada, travelled to Nyala, Sector South, on a working visit. He was accompanied by Deputy Force Commander, Major General Emmanuel Karake Karenzi; Police Commissioner, Michael Fryer; and other senior officials.
21 October 2008 -- A joint patrol consisting of UNAMID protection force and police and accompanied by the Mine Action Team, carried out the demolition of Unexploded Ordinance (UXOs) on 18 and 19 October 2008 in Kutum, Sector North.
19 October 2008 The 108 first officers of the 147-strong UNAMID Nepalese Formed Police Unit (FPU) have arrived today in Nyala, where they will be based for a one-year tour of duty in Darfur. They will be followed by the rest of the unit on 21 October 2008.
27 October 2008 -- Last Wednesday, 22 October 2008, UNAMID Sector West attended a monthly security meeting held at the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) Brigade Headquarters in El Geneina. It was attended by the UNAMID Sector West Commander, and other senior staff officers.
23 October 2008 On 21 October, Sudanese media reported on the statement made by the Minister of Interior before the National Assembly saying that “the UN and the Government of Sudan (GoS) agreed that Kalma and Zalingei Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camps are considered a threat to security
23 November 2008 -- The first group of the Bangladeshi Multi-role Logistics Unit, comprising of 163 personnel, arrived in Nyala, South Darfur, today giving UNAMID the much needed boost in logistical support. The remaining 162 officers are expected to arrive tomorrow.
21 October 2008 -- As part of a familiarization tour for the Indonesian Formed Police Unit (FPU), UNAMID Police Commissioner, Michael Fryer, accompanied by the military component of the mission, visited Abu Shouk and Al Salaam Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in North Darfur
30 October 2008 -- On Wednesday 29 October, at approximately 1800 hours, South African soldiers serving with the African Union – United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) came under attack from unidentified men who arrived in several heavily armed vehicles.
29 October 2008 – The AU-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) today awarded UN Peacekeeping medals to its Force Headquarters staff officers and contingents deployed in El Fasher, in acknowledgement of their contributions to maintaining peace in Darfur.
