Indonesian FPU conducts first confidence-building patrol

4 November 2008 -- Yesterday, the Indonesian Formed Police Unit (FPU), accompanied by UN Police Advisors commenced its first confidence-building patrol to Abu Shouk and Al Salaam Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) Camps, in North Darfur. This is their first patrol since they arrived on 12 October 2008 on a one-year tour of duty with UNAMID.

The formed police units are tasked mainly to work in the areas of the protection of civilians, conduct community policing in Darfur, especially in Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps, investigate incidents and support UN agencies and international organizations in their humanitarian operations and delivering humanitarian aids.
