Khartoum, 17 February 2009 -- The Joint Special Representative of the African Union-United Nations in Darfur (UNAMID), Mr. Rodolphe Adada, met on 16 February 2009 in Khartoum with Mr. Gernot Erler, Member of the German Bundestag and Minister of State at the Federal Foreign Office who is currently on a fact finding mission in Sudan.

Both sides discussed a series of issues of mutual concern including the status of UNAMID's deployment, recent events in Muhajeriya as well as the challenges facing UNAMID in the coming period.

JSR expressed his gratitude to Germany which is member of the Group of Friends of UNAMID at the UN Headquarters in New York, for their continued efforts to provide UNAMID with every possible support, in order to speed up its deployment.
