UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Voice of Children, 03 February 2017: Family role in raising a child.

    Children are influenced by the way their families help them to grow-up and that can shape the future of the children. This program features the role of family and the importance of educating children in better environment and the importance of being a role model. The program also features the role of girls in the community and the importance of giving girls opportunity to access education and participate in their community and beyond.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 02 February 2017: Protection of civilians in Darfur

    Protection of civilians in Darfur, Western region of Sudan is one of the core mandate of UNAMID Mission. To successfully fulfil its obligations, the mission works closely with the parties to the conflict; including government officials and rebellion movements. In this program UNAMID Radio conducted an interview with Mr. Mohammed Adam, Commissioner of Netaga locality, South Darfur, about the IDPs needs and concerns in the area. In addition the program also features the daily life of a woman at Umsabagh village in South Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 01 February 2017: UNAMID to help provide drinking water in Muhageria, Darfur.

    Security of drinking water is one of the causes of conflict in Darfur. This program feature’s how UNAMID and Plan Sudan Organization are tackling the problem of lack of drinking water in Muhageria Locality in North Darfur. The mission rehabilitated, dug boreholes and constructed dams in many areas of Darfur to address the water issue. The program also features an Interview with Adam Ismail Adam, UNAMID’s Civil Affairs Officer from Kabkabya Team Site Office, about UNAMID’s work in the area of Education in Kabkabya Locality. 

  • Voice of Children, 23 January 2017-repeat: Peace song by kids from Melleit, North Darfur.

    This program features the role of family in child protection and the importance of educating children. Also it features the role of girls in the community especially their role as mothers of future generation of Darfur children. The program also features children’s peace song from Melleit, North Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 22 January 2017: ways to avoid cholera disease.

    This program features an interview with Balgis Faisal Salihi, UNAMID’s Nutrition Advisor at UNAMID Health Center, about the Hygiene Awareness training organized for women in North Darfur. It also interview with Mohammed Adam Ibrahim, Head of Vaccination Center in Melleit, about how they convince parents and families to bring their kids for vaccination against child diseases. It also features on ways to avoid cholera disease.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 19 January 2017: UNAMID supports peace-building in Darfur.

    This program features peace-building, through UNAMID Radio Serial Drama known as (Rakuba Aba Saleh), drama that address social problems and liveliness of the people of Darfur. The program also includes a report on the importance of involving the native administration in issues of peace in Darfur. In addition to an interview with Hassabo Mohamed,  a Program Coordinator for the State Committee to combat violence against women. It farther features a training by UNAMID’s Department of the Rule of Law,  trained 30 prison officers on prisons management and operations. Also features UNAMID’s volunteers handing over equipment to school teachers the basic school of Alwifaqu.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 18 January 2017: Cloth Designing in Darfur.

    This program features an interview with Ramadan Donkus Suleiman, a young business man from Nyala, about how he had started his business. It also features the IDPs small economic activities in Shangil Tobey area in addition to an interview with Khadija Adam Ahmed Ibrahim, cloth designer from Al-Salaam IDPs camp in EL-Fasher, about the products she makes and where she had learnt cloths designing.

  • Voice of Children, 16 January 2017: The children’s innovation in AL salaam IDPs Camp.

    The program Features children’s innovation in AL salaam IDPs Camp, Children’s Innovation embraces innovation as finding something new inside something known. This program allows space for children to find authentic discoveries and reflect on themselves in relation to the materials they explore. An approach of local products as raw material further supports children’s innovation as it nudges children to work intensely as they explore with toys, other devices and components. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 15 January 2017: Center for vocational skills, constructed by UNAMID DDR in EL-fasher.

    This program features about Dim-Silk center for vocational skills, constructed by UNAMID’s DDR Section in collaboration with North Darfur Ministry of Social Affairs, to combat poverty among youth in EL-Fasher. Also features on the interface between traditional mechanisms of solving conflicts and modern courts, in solving the conflict on land and natural resources in Darfur.
