    UNAMID Acting Chief Speaks at DRA Council Inauguration
    16 Jan 2013 - In a speech delivered on 16 January, UNAMID Acting Joint Special Representative and Joint Chief Mediator a.i. Aichatou Mindaoudou addressed the audience gathered for the inauguration of the Darfur Regional Authority (DRA) Council in Nyala, South Darfur, saying that the event marked an important milestone in the implementation of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD).

    11 Jan 2013 - El Fasher, 11 January 2013-- UNAMID is alarmed by deadly fighting between Beni Hussein and Abbala tribes in Jebel Amer area near Kabkabiya, North Darfur. While providing full assistance and preparing to send a team to assess the situation on the ground, the Mission also urges the Sudanese Government, North Darfur authorities and leaders from both tribes to end fighting and give dialogue a chance.

    09 Jan 2013 - El Fasher, 9 January 2013 – Acting Joint Special Representative of the African Union – United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) Aichatou Mindaoudou visited Zalingei, the capital of Central Darfur State, on 8 January. During this visit, she held talks with the Wali (Governor) of Central Darfur, Dr. Yousif Tibin, and expressed serious concerns over the ongoing fighting in west Jebel Marra.

  • Reports of displacement due to alleged air strikes and armed attacks in North Darfur
    21 Dec 2012 - El-Fasher, 21 December 2012 -- UNAMID received reports of displacement of civilians following alleged air strikes by Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and attacks by armed groups in Shangil Tobaya and Tawila areas, North Darfur. On 19 December, UNAMID deployed a patrol to Dalma and Dady villages to verify alleged SAF air strikes in this area. The patrol was denied access by SAF at Shanghil Tobaya.

His responsibilities include those of the African Union-United Nations Joint Chief Mediator.
