  • 17 Nov 2014 - The Secretary-General is deeply troubled about persistent allegations of mass rape in Thabit, North Darfur. The African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) visited Thabit on 9 November. However, the heavy presence of military and police in Thabit made a conclusive investigation difficult.  UNAMID has since then attempted to gain further access to shed light on what happened.
  • 12 Nov 2014 - El Fasher, 12 November 2014: On 12 November 2014, the Sudan Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (SDDRC) marked the official launch of the demobilisation exercise for members of the Justice and Equality Movement-Sudan as well as the signatories to the Darfur Peace Agreement.
  • 10 Nov 2014 - Elfasher, 10 November 2014- Further to our earlier press releases; on 9 November 2014, an African Union –United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) verification team was granted access to Tabit village in North Darfur; following media reports of an alleged mass rape incident perpetrated against 200 women and girls in the area. The team included representatives from police, military and civilian components.

  • 04 Nov 2014 - Doha, 04 November 2014 — The African Union-United Nations Acting Joint Special Representative (JSR) and Joint Chief Mediator a.i. for Darfur, Mr. Abiodun Bashua, today held a meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister (DPM) of Qatar, H.E. Ahmed bin Abdullah Al-Mahmoud, in Doha.
  • 02 Nov 2014 - Nyala, 02 November 2014 — The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) has received information about the alleged intention of the Government of Sudan to conduct a security search operation in Kalma camp for internally displaced people (IDP) near Nyala, South Darfur, and it is concerned about its possible impact on the civilian population.
  • 29 Oct 2014 - El Fasher, 29 October 2014 – The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID)’s Community-based Labour-Intensive Projects (CLIPs) have won a UN 21 Award under the category of "Outstanding Vision." CLIPs programme, which is aimed at community stabilization and violence reduction in Darfur, is implemented by UNAMID Disarmament Demobilization and Reintegration section since 2011.
  • 29 Oct 2014 - A review, initiated by the Secretary-General, was conducted into recent allegations that the African Union-United Nations Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) intentionally sought to cover up crimes against civilians and peacekeepers.
  • 22 Oct 2014 - El Fasher, 22 October 2014– The African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), UN agencies, Sudan government officials and hundreds of the people of Darfur gathered at Al Zubier Stadium in El Fasher, North Darfur, to celebrate the United Nations Day. United Nations Day is observed globally on 24 October to reassure the world of its commitment to the universal values that the organization strives to uphold and symbolise.
  • 16 Oct 2014 - El Fasher, 16 October 2014 — Two military personnel of the African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur were killed and one seriously injured on 16 October in Korma, North Darfur, by a group of unidentified armed men. The injured soldier later succumbed to his wounds and died in El Fasher.   This happened when a patrol of Ethiopian peacekeepers guarding a water borehole came under sudden attack. The perpetrators seized a patrol vehicle and fled the scene.
