28 Sep 11 - UNAMID provides medical assistance in Nyala

28 September 2011 - The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) conducted one-day free medical services to the public at the Nahada hospital in Nyala, South Darfur.

A Pakistani medical team was deployed to the center where over five hundred patients received treatment for various diseases and others had medical check. The team said it is to donating medicines worth $50,000 to the hospital.

The main objective of the day was to build public confidence in the work of UNAMID and visible evidence that the Mission is in Darfur to contribute to humanitarian and security needs of the people in the region.

The free medical services day provided by UNAMID has been on-going for the past three years in different medical centers in Nyala.
