23 January 2011 - UNAMID Joint Special Representative Ibrahim Gambari today met with the Deputy Head of Mission of the Japanese Embassy, Mr. Yoichi Nakashima, in El Fasher, North Darfur, for the start of a two-day tour of the region.

Mr. Nakashima met with UNAMID officials, civil society leaders and representatives of UN Country Team entities in order to gain a clearer picture of the political and humanitarian state of affairs.

Tomorrow, the diplomat is to visit the UNAMID regional office in Nyala, South Darfur.
