20 Oct 10 - Over 370 attend Doha discussion in West Darfur

20 October 2010 - Continuing its Darfur-wide campaign to spread information about the Doha peace process, UNAMID yesterday held a public meeting in Sirba, West Darfur, which was attended by more than 370 civilians from the surrounding area.

The participants came from various civil society organizations representing the native administration, women, youth, displaced persons, teachers, students, and a number of different tribes. After the two outcome documents of the Doha talks were explained, an open discussion followed on justice, reconciliation, security and the implementation of the recommendations contained in these documents.

A similar event was organized for community leaders from East Jebel Marra on 18 October in Nyala, South Darfur. It was attended by 100 people, 27 of whom were women.
