14 July 2010 - Yesterday, the Al Salam Peace defeated the Zamzam Tigers by a score of 3 to 0 in the first match of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) youth football tournament in El Fasher, North Darfur. The players had to endure strong winds, dust and eventually a rainstorm, throughout the match.

However, the skies are clear this afternoon, as the Zamzam Doha Lions prepare to face off against the Abu Shouk Hope. The outcome and highlights of the match will be reported in tomorrow’s brief.

The Nelson Mandela Cup was organized by UNAMID’s Communications and Public Information Division with the aim of bringing communities together. The event’s slogan is “If you want to make peace with your enemy, you have to work with your enemy.” The final match will be played on 18 July, Mandela Day.
