12 July 10 - Jordanian police officers honored with peacekeeping medals




12 July 2010 - In a ceremony held at the UNAMID’s headquarters in El Fasher, North Darfur, nearly four hundred Jordanian police peacekeepers today received medals in recognition of their service in the region.

 

The 103 police advisors and 280 officers of Jordanian Formed Police Unit I were honored for their “commitment to duty, professionalism and the numerous sacrifices made to bring hope and future to Darfur,” said Colonel Gosta Grund, UNAMID Police Chief of Staff and acting Police Commissioner.

 

The contingent commanders, Colonels Musa Abulannaz and Omar Alowaidi Agarmi expressed pride in their countrymen’s dedication and heroism. “Jordan, as a nation, is and will continue to uphold the principles of peace, freedom, equality and the preservation of human life,” said Col Abulannaz. “Jordan is proud of you.
