08 March 2011 - A team of UN agencies, as well as Government representatives and UNAMID’s Humanitarian Liaison Office staff, yesterday visited Malha, North Darfur, to assess the humanitarian needs of the Sudanese Nationals who recently arrived in the locality from Libya.

The mission reported that about 60 returnees, primarily women and children, who have temporarily settled in Malha, located 189 km northeast of El Fasher, urgently require water and other basic services.

Many of the returnees, who are largely migrant workers, left Sudan several years ago to search for job opportunities in Libya. They have now fled in the wake of that country’s current crisis, and because of security concerns. More Sudanese families are expected to arrive from Libya in the coming days.
