A UNAMID patrol was ambushed yesterday 16 km south west of Kutum, North Darfur. A group of about seven armed men opened fire on the patrol, which was escorting a water tanker. The attackers fled when the UNAMID soldiers returned fire. The peacekeepers sustained no injuries but two APC’s tires were damaged by bullets.

In a separate incident, four Sudanese workers of an international NGO were also ambushed on 4^th October by two men in Gandi area, 45 km west of Nyala, South Darfur. The gunmen robbed the personal belongings of a team member and unsuccessfully tried to carjack the team’s vehicle. Nobody was injured. UNAMID is following up the investigations.
