Earlier today, Under-Secretary General for the United Nation’s Department of Operational Support (DOS), Mr. Atul Khare (center)met with the Sudan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ms. Mariam Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi at her office in the Sudanese capital, Khartoum. Officer-in Charge of UNAMID, Mr. M’Baye Babacar Cissé (extreme left) was in attendance. During the meeting, they discussed the Mission’s drawdown and cooperation with the Government of Sudan and the local authorities to facilitate seamless drawdown and liquidation processes before UNAMID’s exit from Darfur as mandated by the UN Security Council Resolution 2559 (2020) which terminated UNAMID mandate on 31 December 2020.
