A Civil Affairs Officer with UNAMID’s Governance and Community Stabilization section, Tamasha Mpyisi-White hails from Rwanda and has worked with the Mission for the past 10 years.
An Assistant Commissioner with the Zambia Police Service, Charity Chanda was nominated by her country to serve in the AU-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID).
Major Evelyn Maweu from Kenya joined UNAMID as a Gender Officer in 2017. A trained physiotherapist working with the Kenya Defence Forces, this is Evelyn’s first experience in peacekeeping.

On 28 February 2018, thousands of people from Kereinek, a locality in West Darfur, gathered to celebrate the declaration of all registered areas in the locality as free of Explosive Remnants of War (ERW) and unexploded ordnance (UXO).

On 8 February 2018, UNAMID’s Bangladeshi peacekeepers teamed up with the Rule of Law section to organise a free medical clinic for the inmates and prison officers at Ardamata Prison, West Darfur.
