On 9 May, UNAMID`s DDR Section, in collaboration with Sudan Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (SDDRC), UNDP and WFP concluded the demobilisation of 779 former combatants from the signatory armed movements of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) and the erstwhile Darfur Peace Agreement of May 2006 (DPA) in El Fasher, North Darfur. On 6 May 2016, UNAMID’s Joint Special Representative (JSR), Martin Uhomoibhi, concluded a five-day visit to the Mission’s Sectors across Darfur. During his tour, Mr. Uhomoibhi met with local authorities, internally displaced persons, native administration leaders, refugees as well as UNAMID staff and members of the UN Country Team.
