On 20 April 2016, UNAMID Communications and Public Information Section in collaboration with the Ministry of Social Affairs, Culture, Information and Tourism, in Zalingei, Central Darfur, organized a cultural festival with the participation of various tribes in the area. The event, aimed at strengthening the social fabric among local communities, included exhibition of local handmade products, traditional dances and musical concerts. 07 April is universally commemorated as the International Day of Reflection on the Genocide in Rwanda. In his message, the UN Secretary-General said that we should all be inspired by the survivors’ courage in showing that reconciliation is possible even after such a tragedy.
