On 22 May 2016, UNAMID Rule of Law Section, in collaboration with the state Prisons Administration, launched a two-week workshop on management and operations of prisons for 30 prisons officers in El Fasher, North Darfur. On 18 May 2016, UNAMID’s Police component and Civil Affairs Section concluded a one-month training for 150 internally displaced women on manufacturing fuel-efficient stoves in El Geneina, West Darfur. The project, which is part of the Mission’s Quick Impact Projects programme, aims at protecting the environment as well as minimizing possible security risks to displaced women while collecting firewood. On 9 May, UNAMID`s DDR Section, in collaboration with Sudan Disarmament, Demobilisation and Reintegration Commission (SDDRC), UNDP and WFP concluded the demobilisation of 779 former combatants from the signatory armed movements of the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD) and the erstwhile Darfur Peace Agreement of May 2006 (DPA) in El Fasher, North Darfur. On 6 May 2016, UNAMID’s Joint Special Representative (JSR), Martin Uhomoibhi, concluded a five-day visit to the Mission’s Sectors across Darfur.
