UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Voice of Children, 28 October 2016: School test in Darfur (repeat)

    In today’s programme you will hear about Darfuri students’ preparedness to take part in school test. Test cheat has become very common in Darfur, this programme talks about the reasons of the children cheat and how to solve the problem.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 27 October 2016: Darfur Internal Dialogue and Consultation in West Darfur

    In today’s programme you will hear about Darfur Internal Dialogue and Consultation (DIDC) that has recently been organized by African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) in Bida, West Darfur. The DIDC mechanism, stipulated in the Doha Document for Peace in Darfur (DDPD), is designed to consolidate peace in Darfur, promote confidence-building and encourage reconciliation as well as unity among the people of Darfur and Sudan in general through popular consultation and dialogue. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 26 October 2016: El-Miariem community development and cultural group

    Today’s programme features El-Miariem community development and cultural group based in Tine Locality in North Darfur. The  group focuses on peace promotion and peace building through its activities. In today’s programme you will also hear an interview with Dr Khalid Mansour, Director of Tine Rural Hospital, about the hospital’s collaboration with UNAMID in the area of vaccination from diseases.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 25 October 2016: UNAMID builds new women centre in West Darfur

    Today’s programme features UNAMID backed project in supporting woman in El Geneina, West Darfur, by building a women centre and providing them training on small business activities. Today’s programme also features Drama Rakoubat Aba Salih episode 156.

  • UNAMID TODAY, 23 October 2016: Peace campaign in Shangli Tobaya

    Today’s programme features UNAMID’s efforts to settle tribal conflicts in the area of Shangli Tobaya, North Darfur. UNAMID has recently conducted a peace campaign to reconcile between groups of farmers and pastoralists.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 23 October 2016: An interview with DDR Land Commission

    In today’s programme, you will hear about an interview with Executive Director of DDR Land Commission, Ibtihaje Mohammed, about land ownership in Darfur and how it can contribute to peace and stability in the region.  

  • UNAMID TODAY, 22 October 2016: Clean water for Kuma population

    In today’s programme you will hear about UNAMID backed project to provide clean water to Kuma locality population by digging three excavations in the area to save water after the rainfall season.

  • Voice of Children, 22 October 2016: Children of Darfur needs public space

    Today’s programme talks about the importance of having public gardens for children’s welfare. In a conflict zone such as Darfur where many children are displaced and there is not enough space for them to play has contributed to their wellbeing.   

  • UNAMID TODAY, 21 October 2016: Quick Impact Projects in South Darfur

    Today’s programme features UNAMID Quick Impact Projects. Quick Impact Projects (QIPs) are the projects offered at a specific time to make an impact or benefit to residents of a certain area. Recently UNAMID in South Darfur donated funds for six QIPs to the implementing partners that work in the field of development.
