UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

    Today’s programme features Almsheeh Cultural Group that has recently conducted a campaign on gender based violence through cultural arts performance in collaboration with UNAMID and the Ministry of Education in South Darfur. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur 19 October 2016: An interview with UNICEF Child Protection Officer

    Today’s   programme features an interview with Salih Bahar, UNICEF Child Protection Officer, about the organization’s psychosocial support to displaced children in South Darfur. UNICEF is one of the UN Organizations working in Darfur to help the affected Children in the region. The programme also features the environment protection and sanitation campaign recently conducted by UNAMID at Otash IDPs Camp in South Darfur.

  • UNAMID TODAY, 18 October 2016: UNAMID supports demobilization of ex-combatants in Darfur (repeat)

    In this programme you will hear about UNAMID support in process of disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of the ex-combatants in Darfur, in coordination with the UNDP, UNICEF and the Government of Sudan.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 18 October 2016: UNAMID helps improve educational environment in East Darfur

    In today’s programme you will hear about a report on UNAMID’s assistance in improving educational environment in Al Neeim IDPs camp in East Darfur. And also an interview with Umalhassan Omer Abdullah a  leader of the women Union from Al Neim IDPs camp, about the assistance the women receives from UNAMID, and Illustrated feature on the Launching of a Secondary School project at Cylinder IDPs camp in west Darfur by UNAMID DDR.

    Today’s programme features the role of UNAMID in the prevention of Gender-based violence in Darfur.

     

  • Voice of Children, 17 October 2016: Lack of space to play for children of Darfur

    Today’s programme talks about the importance of having backyards for children’s welfare. In a conflict zone such as Darfur, having lack of backyards in their houses is an issue that children often face. Backyards are important to raise the children. 

  • UNAMID TODAY, 16 October 2016: Peace building in Darfur

    Today’s programme features the role of religious leaders in building peace in Darfur. The religious leaders in Darfur play an important role to promote peace and stability in region. UNAMID has recently worked together with the religious leaders in building peace in the region

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 16 October 2016: An interview with UNAMID Child Protection Unit

    In today’s programme you will hear about an interview with Boubacar Dieng Chief of UNAMID Child Protection Unit on UNAMID Applauds Pledge to End Child Soldiers in Darfur. The programme also highlights UNAMID’s supports to bring in peace between communities in East Darfur through cultural activities and vocational training. Tribal conflicts between communities in Darfur is one of the threats to the security of the civilians in Darfur and one of UNAMID’s priorities is to mediate and help resolve intercommunal conflicts.

    In today’s programme features a report about the visit of Pricilla Makotose, a Police Commissioner, to UNAMID Sector in South Darfur state.

    Today’s programme features an interview with Deputy Commissioner of Humanitarian Affairs, Adam Suleiman, about the role of the Commission in coordination among UNAMID and the international organizations and the state government in order to facilitate the access of humanitarian aid to displaced people in various states of Darfur
