UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur,24 November 2016: Begging in Darfur

    This program features the Begging in Darfur, there are a lot of women and children engaged in begging in the city of El Fasher, mostly due to displacement and loss of head of the family, this program discusses how to help them, and to reduce this phenomenon.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 23 November 2016: Gender equality in the work place in Darfur.

    This program features the relationship between UNAMID and the Prison Administration in North Darfur, and the support that the mission has provided to the Prisons in order to enhance the human rights and rule of law institutions. The program also features the status of gender equality in the work place in Darfur. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 22 November 2016: Peace and Friendship Football Tournament.

    This program features the role of UNAMID in supporting the sport in Darfur in collaboration with the ministry of Social Welfare in South Darfur, through football competitions between Nyala Youth and Youth from IDP’s camps surrounding Nyala city, what so called Peace and Friendship Football Tournament.

  • Voice of Children,21 November 2016,Children of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

    This program features the importance of preparing children for their future. Children of today are the leaders of tomorrow and education is a very important weapon to prepare children for their future roles as leaders of the community. Darfur children suffer from huge deprivations such as limited access to qualitative education and primary healthcare, hunger, malnutrition and disease. Many children in different parts of the region sit on bare floors or share seats in the classroom to learn.

  • UNAMID TODAY 20 November 2016, Tolerance: necessary to bring progress to the communities.

    This program features an interview with Mohammed Yusuf Adam, from UNAMID’s Department of Civil Affairs on tolerance and its implication on the progress and advancement of the communities.

    There is   also a follow-up to the interview with Adam Ismail Adam a Civil Affairs Officer with UNAMID, on the outcome of the reconciliation conference between pastoralists and farmers held in Kabkabiya, North Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur,20 November 2016, marriage between past and present in Darfur

    This program features a comparison between the marriage in the past and now days in Darfur, what have changed in term of choosing the partner, the dowry and other wedding requirements. In this program there is also an interview with Hassan Ahmed Alnour, Artist who participated in disseminating the massage of peace in Darfur.

  • UNAMID TODAY 19 November 2016, Ms. Bintu Keita, UNAMID’s Deputy JSR, visits Sortony in Jabal Mara.

    This program features UNAMID’s Deputy Joint Special Representative for Protection, Bintu Keita’s visit to Sortony area in North Darfur.  She visited the area to see for herself UNAMID’s work of providing basic items for the temporary displaced victims of the ethnic conflict. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur,19 November 2016, UNAMID support for the basic education in Millet

    This program features UNAMID’s role in supporting local community in Millet in field of education by building school class rooms. It also features an interview with the Director of Basic Education in Millet Locality, he talks about the kind of support they received from UNAMID for the basic education. 

  • UNAMID TODAY 18 November 2016, UNAMID support Siala village in North Darfur.

    This program features an interview with Hamid Ahmed Mohamed of UNAMID’s   Department of Civil Affairs. He speaks on the support life-saving medicines that that UNAMID is giving to the residents of Siala Village.  The program also features UNAMID’s support to prisons in West Darfur through the establishment of training programs in the field of human rights.
