UNAMID Radio Unit has been broadcasting its radio programmes around Darfur since July 2011.Two of its flagship programmes are the Voice of Children; a weekly magazine style radio programme that is produced and presented by children aged 9 to 15 years old, and Yala Nebni Darfur (Lets Build Darfur); one-hour-magazine style radio programme focusing on themes related to UNAMID mandate. Both of these radio programmes are broadcast on radio Al Salaam 98.0 FM in Khartoum and 7.2MHz, 41 Meter Band SW in Darfur every day from 08:30 to 09:30 and from 14:00 to 15:00.

The radio unit has recently launched its new magazine programme, UNAMID Today, a 30 minute radio programme that highlights the Mission’s activities and human interest stories in Darfur. The programme is broadcast  on El Fasher radio, 95 FM and 801 AM every day from 9:30 to 10:00. 

The radio programmes are broadcast in Arabic.

  • UNAMID TODAY, 2 October 2016: Importance of good hygiene

    Today’s programme features an interview with Dr. Aziza Hamid, Head of Public Health Unit in the Ministry of Health North Darfur, on the importance of having good hygiene in the families. The programme also talks about the role of women in Darfur who have played important role to help generate income for their families.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 2 October 2016: Vaccination in Darfur

    In today’s programme, you will hear about the benefits of vaccination to children of Darfur. Immunization protects against at least ten serious diseases, which can cause disability and death. These diseases used to strike thousands of children each year. 

  • UNAMID TODAY, 1 October 2016: An interview with pediatrician

    In today’s programme you will hear an interview with Dr. Shafie Bakr, pediatrician in El Fasher, who talks about polio and polio prevention.  

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 1 October 2016: Road Safety Campaign in Darfur

    Today’s programme features UNAMID backed road safety campaign in collaboration with local traffic police of Darfur. In this programme you will also listen to an interview with Fatima Kanjom, women leader from Nyala, about their role in peacemaking process in South Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 30 September 2016: International Women Day

    In this programme you will hear about a women seminar that has been recently held at Ed-Elfersaan locality in South Darfur. Also in this programme, you will hear about the celebration of International Women Day in Darfur. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 29 September 2016: Women in IDP camps

    This programme features Lazima Suliman from Zamzam Internally Displaced Persons camp, who has helped her family in income generation. Ms. Suliman is one of the examples of women in Darfur who has to work to help their families to provide income daily. 

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 28 September 2016: An interview with graphic designer from Darfur

    This program features an interview with Hassan Ahmed Abdurrahman, Graphic Designer from Darfur about his graphic work that supports the peace in Darfur, Hassan has participated in many exhibitions that are organized to support peace in Darfur.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur, 27 September 2016: History of El Fasher

    This programme features a discussion about the history of El Fasher city that has become the capital of Darfur since the sultanate time

  • UNAMID TODAY, 27 September 2016: El Fasher centre promotes peace

    In today’s programme, you will hear an interview with Salah Abdul Rahman Mohammadi, Director of El Fasher Centre, about the role of his centre in supporting peace in the region. The centre was established in El Fasher in 2009 aimed to build peace in the region through the provision of capacity building training to local organizations in reconciliation and peaceful coexistence.

  • Voice of Children, 26 September 2016: Children’s games in El Fasher (repeat)

    Today’s programme features games played by children in Internally Displaced Persons camps in El Fasher compared with the ones played by children outside the camps and how they have impacted to the children.
