    This programme features UNAMID backed training programme  for 150 youths that aimed to equip them with small business skills to generate income that will help them to not join the armed movements.

    Today’s programme features how school children in Darfur spend their time on holidays. Unlike children in conflict free countries, children in Darfur, particularly those in IDP camps Darfur often have to help their parents in the farm to generate income during holidays for their families. This programme also features a discussion on equal opportunities for girls and boys within a family in accessing education. Despite progress in recent years, girls in Darfur continue to suffer severe disadvantage and exclusion in accessing education, as there is still strong cultural tradition favoring boys to get education.

  • Yala Nebni Darfur 29 May 2016: Darfur Still Faces Water Shortages

    The African Union-United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) and UN agencies have been working with local partners and relevant institutions to increase access to, and improve the management of such water resources for all local communities. Residents in Gundi village in Edd-elfursan locality in South Darfur, for example, rely on the borehole(s) , which supplies water to the village but it has stopped working and has left them with a big gap in water resources. The minimum amount of clean water that one person needs each day is between 7.5 and 15 litres, according to international guidelines. Given the pressure from rapid demographic growth and the large population concentrations occurring in Darfur’s towns and camps for displaced people, acquiring even this bare minimum amount of water has become a challenge.
