Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

20 June Security situation update

UNAMID patrols report that an estimated 40 people were killed and 10 injured in fighting on 19 June between the Aballa and Baggara tribes in the areas of Urdi and Kenkoule, close to Garsilla town, 80 km Southwest of Zalingei, West Darfur. A fact finding patrol was dispatched to the area today.
