The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

20 February 2011 - UNAMID peacekeepers have yesterday reported multiple air bombardments approximately 30 km north of Shangil Tobaya, North Darfur. A verification mission headed for Wadi Mura was unable to proceed due to the continued clashes.

United Nations - African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur

UNAMID was established on 31 July 2007 with the adoption of Security Council Resolution 1769. The mission was mandated to protect civilians, support humanitarian access, and promote peace and human rights in Darfur.
