Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

19 May 11 - Update on North Darfur air strikes

19 May 2011 - A UNAMID team in Kuma, North Darfur, yesterday met with the town’s residents about the aftermath of an air strike carried out by Government forces in nearby Sukamir village. No casualties were reported. However the team was prevented from marking the sites of two UXOs (unexploded ordnances) for safe disposal.
