The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

17 June Security situation update

A UNAMID team confirmed yesterday a build-up of Rizeigat/Nouaiba and Misseriya tribes on the outskirts of the town of Zalingei, West Darfur. The groups were reported to have dispersed today following the arrival of Sudanese police. The situation in the area remains volatile.

No further significant activities were reported in the past 24 hours.
