Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

16 Dec 10 - Update on Shangil Tobaya situation

16 December 2010 - Following the clashes between Sudanese Armed Forces and Sudan Liberation Army / Minni Minawi in Shangil Tobaya village, North Darfur, on 14 December, UNAMID observed that its villagers had fled to Nifasha and Shaddad internally displaced persons (IDP) camps, while others took refuge around the Mission’s team site. Three civilians injured due to the shooting received treatment at UNAMID’s clinic.
