Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

12 Oct 11-UPDATE: On attack in North Darfur

12 October 2011 - Five peacekeepers (four Rwandese soldiers and one Gambian Police Adviser) injured in the 10 October attack in Zam Zam internally displaced persons camp are being treated in a Khartoum hospital. UNAMID has confirmed that (two Rwandese soldiers and one Police Adviser from Senegal) were killed in the attack.
