Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

10 Jan 11 - Update on security situation

10 January 2011 - A UNAMID patrol to Tabit village, 37 kilometres northwest of Shangil Tobaya, North Darfur, reported exchanges of fire occurred on 7 January between government forces and SLA-Minni Minnawi in which three people are believed to have been killed. The Mission continues to investigate.

UNAMID peacekeepers in Khor Abeche yesterday treated a 13-year-old girl who was injured while playing with an UXO (unexploded ordnance). She is reported to be in stable condition and is still undergoing treatment.
