The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

Workshop on all-inclusive peace and security in Darfur to be held in Addis Ababa on 9 December

The African Union-United Nations Joint Chief Mediator for Darfur, Mohamed Ibn Chambas, has invited the Darfur non-signatory movements to participate on a technical workshop on all-inclusive peace and security in Darfur.The forum, organized in collaboration with the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), aims at discussing issues related to international humanitarian law and human rights, and to explore ways of achieving a comprehensive peace in Darfur.

All media are invited to the opening ceremony of the workshop that will take place on Monday, 9 December 2013, at 10:00 hours, at Radisson Blu Hotel, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The opening ceremony is scheduled to be addressed by the Chairperson of the African Union Commission, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, and the Foreign Minister of Ethiopia, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as well as the Joint Chief Mediation.
