The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

21 Aug 12 - Peacekeepers reported missing in North Darfur

El Fasher, 21 August 2012 - The African Union - United Nations Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) reports that two of its peacekeepers have gone missing on 20 August in North Darfur. The incident, which took place in the town of Kabkabiya, located approximately 140 kilometers west of El Fasher, is being investigated by the Mission and the Government of the Sudan.
