Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

13 Feb 11 - Robbery in North Darfur camp

13 February 2011 - UNAMID peacekeepers in Shangil Tobaya, North Darfur, report that on 12 February, armed gunmen robbed a number of households in the Shaddad camp for internally displaced persons (IDPs). The criminals fled, leaving behind the stolen items, once UNAMID’s forces mobilized in the camp. No significant injuries have been reported and local government officials are currently in pursuit of the culprits.
