The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

27 Mar 11 - Sudanese returnees from Libya

27 March 2011 - UNAMID peacekeepers in Malha, North Darfur, have reported yesterday that 120 Sudanese nationals, all male, have arrived from Libya. The returnees are currently undergoing registration at the local police station. Local authorities have arranged for shelters and have appealed to aid agencies to help provide food and temporary housing to the new arrivals.
