Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

09 May 11 - Humanitarian situation stable in Kalma camp, South Darfur

09 May 2011 - An inter-agency assessment mission led by OCHA, with the participation of UNAMID, has recently visited Kalma internally displaced persons (IDP) camp, located near Nyala, South Darfur, to verify media reports on an alleged shortage of water, medicines and food. The mission found that the humanitarian situation in the camp was generally stable except for the inadequacy of water supply in some areas. This issue is being addressed by relevant agencies.
