Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

25 Sep 11 - Firing of rockets in South Darfur

25 September 2011 - UNAMID peacekeepers observed on 21 September a military gunship helicopter flying at a low altitude over Khor Abeche area, South Darfur, and firing two rockets around Umgafala village, about 9 km north of Khor Abeche. The following day a UNAMID patrol to the village confirmed the incident and no injury or damage to property was reported.
