El Fasher 1 June 2009 -- The Joint Special Representative of the African Union and United Nations in Darfur, Mr. Rodolphe Adada, today expressed his deep sorrow over the death of the former Sudanese president, Mr. Jaafar Nimeiri.
Mr. Nimeiri, who served as president between 1969 and 1985, died on Saturday aged 79.
On behalf of the AU-UN Mission in Darfur (UNAMID), Mr. Adada expresses his condolences to the bereaved family and offers his sincere sympathy to the people of Sudan.
