10 February 2010 - Responding to the urgent needs of newly-displaced persons in Nertiti, 65 kilometres west of Zalingei in West Darfur, UNAMID and other humanitarian agencies have yesterday outlined their plans to increase aid to IDP camps in the region.Due to inter-factional clashes which broke out in mid-January in and around Jebel Marra, West Darfur, hundreds of people are reported to have fled their homes for nearby IDP camps. Following the report by an inter-agency assessment mission which occurred earlier this week, humanitarian agencies plan to provide much-needed food, water and health care to over 1,200 households to ameliorate the already over-crowded camp conditions.
