More humanitarian assistance pledged to Nertiti, West Darfur

10 February 2010 - Responding to the urgent needs of newly-displaced persons in Nertiti, 65 kilometres west of Zalingei in West Darfur, UNAMID and other humanitarian agencies have yesterday outlined their plans to increase aid to IDP camps in the region.Due to inter-factional clashes which broke out in mid-January in and around Jebel Marra, West Darfur, hundreds of people are reported to have fled their homes for nearby IDP camps.
