25 August 2008 -- UNAMID sent police and military patrols to the Kalma camp, home to 80,000 internally displaced persons, to confirm this incident and lend any assistance needed.
UNAMID leadership is extremely concerned by this serious incident which circumstances will be investigated. It is closely monitoring the situation and call on all parties to exercise restraint.
