4 November 2008 -- On 3 November, UNAMID Police undertook their 9th convoy from the UN Logistics Base in El Obeid to Darfur to bring much needed equipment and vehicles (including 39 vehicles, 7 trucks of contingent owned equipment (COE) and 3 trucks of humanitarian relief) to the mission area. The 900 km journey took place over some of the worst terrain in the region, particularly during the rainy season. These convoys are also an opportunity for UNAMID Police to make contact with the local population along the route, as well as develop better working relations with the local police.
