The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

UNAMID monitoring the ongoing reintegration training of ex-combatants

29 July 2008 -- The African Union-United Nations mission in Darfur (UNAMID) has been monitoring the ongoing reintegration training of ex-combatants into the Government of Sudan (GoS) Armed Forces and Police. More than 1,000 ex-combatants from the Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) and Sudan Liberation Army (SLA) were processed at the Dumaya camp in Nyala, Darfur.

UNAMID will continue to monitor the exercise and report on its progress accordingly.
