26 November 2008 -- Starting tonight, UNAMID will have a Quick Response Team (QRT) from the Indonesian Formed Police Unit 1 (IND-FPU-1) accompanied by UN Police Monitors, conducting night security/visibility patrols (mobile security services) in El-Fasher.This has come about due to concerns over the increased incidents of car-jacking in Darfur.
This QRT night patrol is a pilot project that in time will be replicated in other areas of Darfur once UNAMID’s capacity allows.
