27 October 2008 -- Last Wednesday, 22 October 2008, UNAMID Sector West attended a monthly security meeting held at the Sudan Armed Forces (SAF) Brigade Headquarters in El Geneina. It was attended by the UNAMID Sector West Commander, and other senior staff officers. The Government of Sudan side, was represented by the Sudan Armed Forces Commander in West Darfur, the Intelligence Force Commander, the Government of Sudan Police representative and other senior officials. The monthly security meeting is aimed at strengthening relations with stakeholders and to discuss the prevailing security situation within the sector. Other issues discussed include UNAMID patrols within the town, harassment of Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) by the GOS, Nertiti North IDP incident, and the surrender of JEM combatants. The Government of Sudan officials also requested an Arabic version of the Status of Forces Agreement (SOFA) signed between the Government of Sudan and UNAMID.
