The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

NEW YORK - United Nations Security Council President, Mr. Olof Skoog, briefed media on peace and security in Darfur and other areas of Africa.

The first part of the media stakeout -- held 12 January, 2017 -- relates to Darfur.

Mr. Skoog is the Permanent Representative of Sweden to the United Nations and President of the Security Council for the month of January 2017.
