Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

31 Mar 11 - Medical assistance to prison in North Darfur

31 March 2011 - UNAMID in collaboration with the State Prisons Administration, State Ministry of Health, UN Development Program (UNDP), and World Health Organization (WHO) finalised today a two-day medical camp at Shallah Federal Prison in El Fasher, North Darfur.

A total of 32 medical personnel from the Ministry of Health, Government Military Hospital, WHO and UNAMID provided medical attention to 600 people. The beneficiaries were inmates, their families and prison workers. The aim of the medical camp was to create awareness on the importance of health care in the prison.
