The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

26 May 11 - Humanitarian assistance to remote areas in North Darfur

26 May 2011 - The humanitarian initiative to deliver assistance to remote areas throughout North Darfur, dubbed Operation Spring Basket, reached the villages of Tine and Kaguro.

The mission, lead by UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs and UNAMID, today visited Tine to assess the humanitarian situation and deliver assistance. A vaccination campaign was carried out by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the North Darfur Ministry of Health.

On 25 May, a team travelled to Kaguro where the WHO delivered medical supplies to an International NGO operating in the area. This action is a part of a national campaign to vaccinate 9,000 children against measles.
