Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

25 Sep 12 - UNAMID contributes to addressing Darfur educational needs

25 September 2012 - UNAMID inaugurated on 24 September three classrooms, a volleyball field and a perimeter wall for the Girls Primary School at Abu Shouk internally displaced persons camp, near El Fasher, North Darfur. The initiative by the Mission is aimed at addressing educational needs in the region.

The facilities, one of many approved Quick Impact Projects by UNAMID, were built by the Mission’s Rwandese peacekeepers.
