Closure of UNAMID

The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

25 Sep 11 - Clashes in Saraf Umra

25 September 2011 - UNAMID received reports of clashes between local farmers and nomads in Tamaru village, 25 kilometers northeast of Saraf Umra, North Darfur, on 22 September. Disputes over animals grazing in the farms, resulted in three farmers and two nomads killed and two farmers injured. UNAMID is working to obtain more details of the incident.
