23 February 2011 - Over 100 participants today began a two-day seminar in Zalingei, West Darfur, on the role of civil society in democratic systems. The event, organized by the UNAMID Civil Affairs component, brought together teachers, lawyers, native administration leaders and representatives from local women’s’ and youth groups to discuss democratic and related processes and the promotion of democracy in their communities.
