The United Nations – African Union Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID) mandate ended on 31 December 2020 following UN Security Council Resolution 2559, concluding over a decade of peacekeeping efforts to stabilize Darfur and protect civilians.

Final Outcome Statement of UNAMID JSR’s Third Retreat with Special Envoys for the Sudan

El Fasher, 21 February 2011 – El Fasher, 21 February 2011 – On 18 February, the Third Retreat with the Special Envoys to the Sudan was hosted by UNAMID Joint Special Representative Ibrahim Gambari in Nyala, South Darfur.

The retreat provided an opportunity for discussions on ways to improve and develop international support for peace efforts and the Darfur political process. The attendees included over 20 Special Envoys from UN Member States, including countries sitting on the Security Council, and representatives from the European Union, the African Union and the League of Arab States.

The meeting concluded with the adoption of a final Outcome Statement. (click here to download)
